About Kong Brand

Kong is a brand of toys and treats for dogs and cats based out of Golden, Colorado by Joe Markham in 1970. Markham had a power chewer dog who loved to chew on rocks and sticks, which are harmful to a dogs teeth. After discovering a rubber part from a Volkswagen bus that he was working on, Markham had an idea for a new dog toy, that would be much better on the teeth and much more durable.

Since 1970, Kong has grown from an idea to solve a big problem chewer, to a big solution sold in 80 countries with a huge line of toys, brushes, and treats. There are so many more products than I ever realized they even had! Kong Box is a way to discover other toys and treats that the brand has to offer. Here is everything you need to know about this subscription box for your furry little friend.

What Comes in the Box

They are well known for their classic snowman/cone shaped Kong that is meant for stuffing treats, like peanut butter, pureed sweet potato or pumpkin or other Kong brand treats. Something to keep dogs busy and active. Your first box always gets a classic Kong.

Kong training toy. Kong has a line of rubber toys that you can use for training.

Personality toy. Based on personality needs chosen at sign up, a toy that is is handpicked is included.

In Lyla’s box this month, she got a rubber ball. It has a hole through the middle so it can also be stuffed. Her personality trait I choose when subscribing was boredom. She loves playing with her Kong toys when they are stuffed with treats. It can keep her busy for hours, which she needs the mental stimulation

Kong treats. Since Kong is made to be used along with Kong treats, three unique treats are included in every box.

Kong recipes and tips. Many dog owners love to stuff their dog’s Kong with healthy and fresh ingredients, so a recipe card is included in the box. Also, based on your dogs personality needs, a training tip card is also included.

Kong Box Solutions

Boredom. Get tips to help stimulate your dogs mind in addition to a variety of toys to keep your furry friend busy.

This is the option that I got for Lyla. When I got her almost a year ago, she didn’t really know how to play with toys. In the last 6 months, or so, I’ve been able to get her playing with toys. She will fetch a ball, though she doesn’t seem to want to ever bring it back and just chew on it. So I figured that boredom was the best option, what kind of toys can I give her to keep her stimulated, both by her self and toys that I can play with her.

Chewing. Kong has a variety of toys for chewing, because well, dogs NEED to chew. It’s in their nature, so Kong Box has tips to prevent unwanted chewing and toys for productive chewing.

Separation anxiety. Some dogs have separation anxiety and can react in many ways such as barking or chewing. Kong Box sends tips and toys that can help provide positive distractions to help calm your pup when you leave the home.

Teething. Just like people, puppies lose their baby teeth and teethe as their adult teeth grown in. Dogs already chew as apart of their nature, but teething puppies will chew EVEN MORE. Kong Box will have tips and toys to help soothe a puppies sore mouth.

Digging & Barking. This one is a hard behavior to correct via positive distractions and toys. But Kong Box will provide lots of treats and tips to help you train your dog to learn what’s inappropriate behavior.

Crate Training. By crate training your dog, you can provide them a safe place to be in. Not only will your dog be safe when you’re not home, but also will have a place to hang out if they choose. Kong box will help with tips and toys for crate training.

Lyla is crate trained. She loves laying in her bed, even when I am home with her. After a long walk, she gets water and then goes to lay in her bed. It is her safe place, whether I am home or not.

Healthy Weight. Maintaining a healthy weight for your dog is essential to provide them with a long and healthy life. Kong Box will provide healthy recipes, tips for weight loss/management and toys to get your dog moving.

How it Works

Create a dog profile, which asks for your dogs name, breed, size and what type of solution you’re looking for. Then you choose how many boxes and the frequency of your box. 12 boxes or 6 boxes sent monthly or every other month. A 12 box subscription is $29.95, a 6 box subscription is $34.95. Both options have a cancelation fee. If you do not want to commit to a full 6 or 12 months, you can choose the month to month option priced at $39.95.

I chose to get Lyla’s Kong Box every other month because every month seems too often. So there is time for her to eat all the treats, since I don’t give treats to her every day. Also, if the box has any toys that she can destroy, by the time she tears it up, it’ll be time for the next box!

How to Get Kong Box

Visit Kong Box for more information and to subscribe for the box. I highly recommend as I trust Kong and its durability of products for Lyla. I am very picky when it comes to toys and treats that I give to her. I don’t want to give her anything harmful and as soon as she starts to chew something up, I take away any loose pieces or the whole toy so she doesn’t eat any of it. So, I have to get her new toys frequently which makes the Kong Box perfect for her!
